Women’s basketball sensation Caitlin Clark may have brought millions of new fans to the WNBA, but it seems not everyone is thrilled with her rise to stardom. From aggressive shoves to eye gouges, Clark is facing a shocking level of physical abuse—and the league’s response is raising serious eyebrows.
The young phenom was practically invincible during her high school and collegiate career, never missing a single game due to injury. But now that she’s made it to the pros, Clark has already missed five games—and not from fatigue or overuse, but because of repeated injuries from on-court collisions that look far more like targeted hits than standard play.
Tuesday’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun put that reality on full display—and it wasn’t pretty.
Early in the game, Clark was being defended by Jacy Sheldon. Cameras caught Sheldon grabbing Clark and gouging her near the eye. The move was anything but accidental. Then, as if that weren’t enough, Sheldon rammed into Clark’s chest with a full-on bump.
