Russ Vought Just SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT!

That’s not just impressive — it’s historic.

Vought didn’t stop there. During a sit-down on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Dana Bash, he delivered a blunt message: critics are just flat-out wrong.

“This bill doesn’t increase the deficit or hurt the debt,” he stated.

This direct rebuttal came after Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk voiced his disappointment with the legislation. Musk claimed the bill would actually worsen the deficit and undermine efforts to streamline government spending.

“I was … disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit … and it undermines the work that the [Department of Government Efficiency] team is doing,” Musk said in an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning.”

But Vought fired back, correcting the narrative:

“In fact, it lowers it by $1.4 trillion,” he emphasized during his interview.

Despite Musk’s claims, the legislation — which passed the House late last month — reflects a major win for conservative fiscal policy. The GOP held firm during negotiations and secured changes that led to meaningful savings and restored national priorities like border security and defense funding.

“This is a $1.4 trillion, over 10 years, deficit reduction. It’s $1.6 trillion in mandatory savings,” Vought reiterated to Bash. “Obviously, we have a little bit of spending in there as well for border and defense, but that is the biggest mandatory savings package cut that we have seen since the 1970s — 1997.”

Those are not numbers to ignore. For those who have been shouting for serious fiscal reform, this is the most progress seen in decades.

Musk, meanwhile, tried to downplay his criticism by adding a philosophical twist.

“A bill can be big, or it could be beautiful,” he said during his CBS interview. “I’m not sure if it could be both.”

Of course, that’s just his opinion — and according to many conservatives, it doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. The numbers say otherwise.

On social media, Vought’s breakdown sparked debate. Some Americans praised the transparency, while others called for even more clarity — including from President Trump himself. One user on X suggested that the 45th President weigh in directly:

“Wow, there’s so much shade on this. It’s hard to sort out what’s true and what’s not. I’m hearing both sides from very reputable accounts. [President Trump] you may need to do a press conference. This is going to be your legacy. Do you agree with everything in the bill or don’t you?”

As the conversation heats up, one thing is clear: Russ Vought is not backing down. He’s arming conservatives with the truth, putting facts over fearmongering, and showing Americans that the “One Big Beautiful Bill” is not just a name — it’s a bold step toward restoring sanity to Washington’s out-of-control spending spree.

And if the critics don’t like it? Well, the numbers speak for themselves.
