Things took a violent turn when Garrett, according to the arrest affidavit, struck the man in the head and shoulder with a can before fleeing the scene by hopping over a fence. Police say Garrett also poured the contents of the can on the man’s head. She later admitted to police that she approached the man and asked about his support for Trump. She also confessed to dumping the can’s contents on him, which constitutes assault under Florida law.
However, Garrett denied physically hitting the man, despite what the affidavit details.
Violence Against Police Alleged
The confrontation didn’t end there. Garrett’s alleged defiance escalated when police attempted to place her under arrest. Officers say that while guiding her to a patrol vehicle, she lashed out—wrapping her legs around one of the officers, knocking him to the ground and injuring his knee.
