Longtime Musk rival Bill Gates wasted no time jumping in to defend the very agency now under heavy scrutiny. Gates went as far as to accuse Musk of contributing to the deaths of children overseas by supporting DOGE’s cost-cutting efforts.
“The picture of the world’s richest man killing the world’s poorest children is not a pretty one,” Gates told the Financial Times. “I’d love for him to go in and meet the children that have now been infected with HIV because he cut that money.”
Yes, Gates actually said that.
He even continued with a dire prediction:
“The number of deaths will start going up for the first time … It’s going to be millions more deaths because of the resources,” Gates warned. “I think governments will come back to caring about children surviving” over the next two decades.
In other words, if American taxpayers aren’t forced to bankroll politically-charged aid programs, millions of people will supposedly die. That’s the kind of over-the-top narrative the global elite are now pushing.
Musk Fires Back: “I Wouldn’t Trust That Guy to Babysit My Kids”
Elon Musk didn’t hold back in his response. During a blunt interview at the Bloomberg Qatar Economic Forum, Musk hit Gates with a hard reality check.
“Who does Bill Gates think he is to make comments about the welfare of children given that he frequented Jeffrey Epstein?” Musk asked. “I wouldn’t trust that guy to babysit my kids, I can tell you that.”
That bombshell landed with force. Musk was, of course, referring to Gates’ well-documented meetings with Jeffrey Epstein—the convicted sex offender who remained in elite social circles for years after his 2008 guilty plea. Gates has admitted to attending multiple events with Epstein, calling it a “huge mistake.” That mistake reportedly played a role in his high-profile divorce from Melinda Gates in 2021.
On top of the personal jab, Musk flatly denied Gates’ explosive claims about government budget cuts causing harm.
“Show us any evidence whatsoever that that is true. It’s false,” Musk said, firmly rejecting the narrative that DOGE’s efficiency recommendations were putting lives at risk.
This latest clash is just the newest chapter in a long-running rivalry between two of the world’s most powerful tech billionaires. Gates, who has spent the last decade cozying up to the global elite and pushing sweeping international health initiatives, appears outraged that someone like Musk would dare challenge the sacred cow of foreign aid spending.
