He continued, doubling down with a statement that left many deeply unsettled:
“I’m not going to tell people what they want to hear—I’m going to tell you the truth. And whether you like it or not is up to you.”
“If there was a big, explosive ‘there’ there—given my history as a Secret Service agent and my personal friendship, as the Director does, with the President—give me one logical, sensible reason we would not have [told you]. If you can think of one… there isn’t.”
“In some of these cases, the ‘there’ you’re looking for is not there. I know people… I get it. I understand. It’s not there. If it was there, we would have told you.”
But not everyone is buying it.
Former Trump spokesperson and longtime loyalist Liz Harrington fired back with a blistering rebuke that’s now making waves across conservative media.
“I’m sorry, the investigation into J13 is closed? Who were you briefed by? The people who came in, hosed down the crime scene, cremated the body, stonewalled congressional investigators, and lawyered up the family?
There is a ‘there’ there because we know NOTHING about Crooks, or who he was talking to.
If this is true, they need to come out with everything they know about why and HOW a 20 year old pulled that off.
The former FBI director just called for ANOTHER hit on President Trump. We must get serious about what is going on.”
Harrington’s remarks reflect what millions of Americans are thinking — how was this allowed to happen?
The facts surrounding July 13 are alarming to say the least. Thomas Crooks, the 20-year-old shooter, managed to:
- Fly a drone over the rally venue and record aerial footage — including two hours before Trump took the stage.
- Smuggle a range finder through security.
- Avoid detection by local, state, and federal law enforcement.
- Climb a rooftop with a rifle just 450 feet from President Trump.
- Crawl into position and fire eight rounds — after being noticed and reported by bystanders.
- Park a vehicle loaded with explosives nearby.
- Walk freely around the area even after snipers had already marked him as suspicious.
- Remain unchecked despite being just 40 feet from a sniper stationed in a second-story window.
And yet somehow, the rally continued, and Trump walked onstage — even after Crooks had drawn attention from the Secret Service.
This incident wasn’t just a lapse. It was a catastrophic, multilayered failure that raises disturbing questions about what kind of protection Trump is truly receiving.
The fact that Dan Bongino — a man who once bravely called out corruption inside the very agencies tasked with protecting the President — would now appear to toe the FBI line has left many disillusioned.
Conservatives are demanding answers, not platitudes. The American people deserve to know who allowed this to happen, how such a threat got so close, and why the system failed so completely.
Liz Harrington said it best: “We must get serious about what is going on.”
The attempt on President Trump’s life isn’t just a matter of national concern — it’s a five-alarm fire signaling something deeply broken in the institutions we’re told to trust. And now, even some of those we once believed were fighting for the truth may be protecting something else entirely.
