In yet another political spectacle, a federal judge has accused the Trump administration of deporting a 2-year-old American citizen to Honduras without “meaningful process” — but the real story tells a very different tale.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty, a Trump-appointed judge based in Louisiana, criticized the Department of Justice for allegedly mishandling the situation involving a Honduran woman and her two daughters — one of whom, known in court documents as “VML,” is an American citizen by birth.

According to NBC News, Doughty said, “The Government contends that this is all okay because the mother wishes that the child be deported with her. But the Court doesn’t know that.” Despite these concerns, the facts paint a different picture.
