President Donald Trump used a nationally televised primetime address Thursday evening to unveil what he described as alarming new findings from the Department of Homeland Security regarding the integrity of America’s elections.
During the speech, Trump outlined what he called “five major areas of concern” affecting election security, arguing that the nation’s voting system remains vulnerable to both foreign interference and administrative failures. Among the issues highlighted was an allegation that hundreds of thousands of non-U.S. citizens have been identified on voter registration rolls used in federal elections.
According to the president, a recent DHS investigation uncovered approximately 278,000 individuals who are not American citizens but are currently registered to vote in federal elections.
