The fight over the Second Amendment is once again heading toward a major legal showdown, and this time it’s not coming from Congress—it’s unfolding in the courts.
In a unanimous decision, the U.S. Supreme Court made it crystal clear: gun manufacturers cannot be financially destroyed through baseless lawsuits over crimes they did not commit. The ruling was decisive—9-0.
But officials in New York appear to be moving forward as if that message never landed.
Now, a coalition of 24 Republican attorneys general is pushing back, warning that what New York Attorney General Letitia James is attempting could undermine gun rights nationwide—without a single vote in Congress.
At the center of the storm is New York’s controversial 2021 gun manufacturer liability law, which critics say was crafted specifically to sidestep federal protections.
