For junior enlisted soldiers earning around $30,000 annually, this deduction takes a heavy financial toll. Despite the hefty collections, the Army appears to be directing the money elsewhere, while soldiers are left with limited dining options.

From a total of $225 million collected at 11 major bases, only $74 million went toward food expenses. That leaves a shocking $151 million unaccounted for.
