A summer camping trip in Montana turned into a dramatic rescue after a 14-year-old rancher used the skills he had practiced for years to save a man from the powerful Yellowstone River.
What began as an ordinary day near Greycliff quickly became a life-or-death emergency when a raft and a paddleboard collided with a bridge pillar on July 5. The impact sent four people into the fast-moving water.
Three of the victims managed to make it safely to shore. One man, however, was carried downstream by the strong current while clinging to a cooler. As he drifted toward dangerous rapids and logjams, the situation became increasingly desperate.
