According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and CNN, this tragic event marks yet another heartbreaking episode of violence in schools.
The high school, located about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta, became the scene of chaos as students and staff scrambled for safety. Authorities confirmed by early afternoon that nine of the injured were taken to local hospitals. Tragically, four people, including two students and two teachers, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have identified the suspect as 14-year-old Colt Gray, a student at Apalachee High School. The young shooter reportedly surrendered without resistance when confronted by a school resource officer. GBI Director Chris Hosey confirmed the details during a press briefing, stating that Gray “immediately surrendered to police when confronted.”
