In a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, Zuckerberg candidly admitted that the pressure exerted by senior government officials to moderate and suppress specific posts, including those related to COVID-19, was wrong. He now claims that Meta is prepared to push back against any future government interference.

According to Politico, Zuckerberg’s letter came in response to the House Judiciary Committee’s ongoing investigation into content moderation practices on online platforms. The tech mogul outlined how officials within the Biden administration pressured Meta to suppress posts that did not align with the government’s preferred narrative, even if those posts were satirical or humorous in nature. Zuckerberg lamented, “I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it. I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction — and we’re ready to push back if something like this happens again.”
