WATCH: CNN Mourns Wrong Person in Stunning Blunder

In an embarrassing on-air blunder that quickly went viral, CNN found itself under fire after mistakenly airing what appeared to be a memorial-style segment for beloved actor Michael J. Fox — only for the “Back to the Future” star to prove he is very much alive and active.

The confusion began when a video package titled “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox” was broadcast, triggering immediate alarm across social media platforms. Many viewers assumed the worst, sparking a wave of posts and concern about the 64-year-old actor’s well-being. The segment’s tone and framing led to widespread misunderstanding before the network ultimately pulled the content.

Rather than letting the moment spiral, Fox responded in classic fashion — with humor, perspective, and a touch of disbelief.

Posting on Threads, Fox addressed the incident directly, writing:

“How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death? Fox wrote. Do you… A) switch to MSNBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) Pour scolding hot water on your lap, if it hurts your fine, (C) Call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) Relax, they do this once every year, (E) Ask yourself wtf?”
