Vance’s Beard Sparks Political Debate Over Feminism!

In a strange twist to post-debate coverage, Politico Magazine has delved into the “significance” of Republican Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance’s facial hair, as if his beard is the real issue voters care about. Instead of focusing on the policies and positions debated during the recent vice-presidential event, the outlet chose to dissect Vance’s physical appearance, specifically his beard.

The analysis, penned by so-called body language expert Joe Navarro, seems to prioritize superficial observations over the substance of the debate. Navarro points out the obvious—that Vance, unlike any White House hopeful in 80 years, sports facial hair. “Our appearance is fundamental to our body language,” Navarro wrote, further claiming that “voters see beards as (surprise, surprise) more masculine.”

The argument put forward by Navarro suggests that Vance’s beard projects strength and competence, qualities typically seen as positive, especially for male candidates. However, the writer also insinuates that facial hair might not sit well with everyone. In his view, some—particularly women—might perceive it as aggressive and an opposition to feminist ideals. This stretches the notion of “body language” analysis to an almost laughable degree.
