Former President Donald J. Trump and CNN have been at odds for years, but now they’re working together on a special town hall event in New Hampshire! Given that the self-described “most trusted name in news” had continuously thrown criticism against him from its wide array of experts with strong disfavor throughout his administration, this revelation comes as quite a shock to many.
Donald Trump, the leading candidate for the GOP nomination in 2024, traveled across the Atlantic to Scotland this week in advance of the inauguration of his newest golf club. He will take questions from Republicans and undecided voters alike in an exclusive town hall on CNN on Wednesday at 9 PM ET, hosted by Kaitlan Collins, hostess of “CNN This Morning”. Watch what promises to be an insightful glimpse into American politics from afar by tuning in!
President Trump is now poised to leave his stamp on one of the most important cable news networks after years of criticism. It will be his first appearance since he assumed the office of president in 2016.
The network’s website states that “The CNN town hall comes as Trump has quickly emerged as the frontrunner in the Republican field for president in 2024. A handful of Republicans have entered the 2024 race so far, though Trump’s biggest potential rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, is still weighing a possible campaign. Trump’s campaign and political allies have continued to ramp up their attacks on DeSantis as the former president has racked up congressional endorsements, including from Florida Republicans who routinely work with DeSantis.”
“But the former president is running to retake the White House at the same time that he’s been indicted in New York and faces additional legal peril in Washington and Georgia,” CNN claims and adds that “Trump has refused to acknowledge that he lost the 2020 election to President Joe Biden, continuing to falsely claim that the election was stolen from him, even as Trump’s rivals – and some of his allies – have urged the Republican Party to move on from 2020.”
Given that Trump implied he could skip the Republican debates because of “hostile Networks with angry, TRUMP & MAGA hating anchors,” it may seem odd that he would agree to be grilled on live national television by a network that constantly broadcasts negative news about him. However, the chance to reach a huge audience and spread his message may have been too appealing to pass up, even if he is venturing into highly controversial territory.
In response to the terrible news, Twitter erupted with passion.

“I see that everybody is talking about the Republican Debates, but nobody got my approval, or the approval of the Trump Campaign, before announcing them. When you’re leading by seemingly insurmountable numbers, and you have hostile Networks with angry, TRUMP & MAGA hating anchors asking the ‘questions,’ why subject yourself to being libeled and abused? Also, the Second Debate is being held at the Reagan Library, the Chairman of which is, amazingly, Fred Ryan, Publisher of The Washington Post. NO!” Trump claimed that the GOP debates will be biased against him in a post on Truth Social last week.
“The town hall will stream live for pay TV subscribers via CNN.com and CNN OTT and mobile apps under ‘TV Channels,’ or CNNgo where available. The town hall will also be available On Demand beginning Thursday, May 11 to pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN apps, and Cable Operator Platforms,” according to CNN.
