Former President Donald Trump is not holding back when it comes to Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. Speaking before business leaders in Michigan this week, Trump delivered a blunt assessment that immediately set off shockwaves in Washington and reignited the debate over who is really holding back the American economy.

Trump appeared Tuesday at the Detroit Economic Club, where he addressed monetary policy, interest rates, and what he sees as deliberate obstruction inside the Federal Reserve.
At one point, Trump summed it up in language that left no room for interpretation.
“We have a real stiff in the Fed,” Trump told the crowd.
He followed with an even sharper jab that drew loud reactions from the audience.
“If I had the help of the Fed, it would be easier. But that jerk will be gone soon.”
The crowd understood exactly who Trump was talking about. Powell, who has resisted pressure to aggressively cut interest rates, has become a growing source of frustration for Trump allies who argue the economy is poised for explosive growth.
