President Donald Trump issued a forceful warning Thursday morning following violent unrest in Minneapolis that left federal immigration officers under direct attack. The former president made it clear he is prepared to invoke the Insurrection Act if Minnesota’s political leadership refuses to restore order and stop what he described as organized lawlessness targeting ICE agents.
The warning came after a night of chaos that stunned even seasoned law enforcement officials. According to reports, violent agitators clashed with federal officers, damaged government vehicles, and even managed to steal weapons and sensitive materials from an ICE unit operating in the city. In one particularly alarming incident, an ICE agent was forced to fire a defensive shot after being violently assaulted.
Independent journalist Nick Sortor documented one of the most disturbing moments of the night, posting video evidence that quickly spread online. The footage showed rioters breaking into a federal vehicle and escaping with dangerous equipment.
“Minneapolis rioters successfully BROKE OPEN a weapons locker in a federal vehicle and STOLE A RIFLE and ammunition before fleeing,” Sortor wrote on X alongside his video.
