Iran’s state-run Fars news agency released video footage showing what it called a “Human chain in front of the Kazerun combined cycle power plant,” depicting hundreds of civilians gathered outside the facility. Officials reportedly urged citizens to act as human shields to protect strategic infrastructure.
The Kazerun facility—also spelled Kazeroon—is a natural gas-fired power plant in Iran’s southwestern Fars province near the Persian Gulf, according to multiple sources.
The videos emerged as Trump ramped up pressure on Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to global shipping ahead of the 8 p.m. deadline. The president has repeatedly warned that noncompliance could trigger attacks on Iran’s power grid and transportation network.
Earlier Tuesday, Israeli warplanes struck rail lines and bridges across Iran, reportedly aiming to disrupt Tehran’s ability to move missiles and military equipment.
Israel’s Army Radio reported that 10 rail lines and bridges were targeted, with infrastructure allegedly used to transport missile systems and launch platforms. Iranian outlets also claimed the strikes involved coordinated U.S.-Israeli operations across several cities.
No casualties were immediately reported, and Iranian authorities have yet to provide updated assessments of nationwide damage.
The Israeli military had warned civilians to stay away from trains and rail stations, signaling that the strikes could hit a broader set of targets beyond conventional military sites.
With only hours remaining before Trump’s deadline, both sides appear locked in a high-stakes standoff, with each move potentially decisive in shaping the next chapter of this escalating crisis.
