Former President Donald Trump hinted at a surprising new role for tech billionaire Elon Musk in his administration if he is re-elected in 2024. During an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, Trump revealed his plans to enlist Musk to streamline the federal government by tackling waste and inefficiency.
“We have the endorsement of Elon, as you know,” Trump said, praising the Tesla CEO as a “great guy” who is eager to assist the country. The former president even shared Musk’s recent involvement in his campaign, saying, “He’s out campaigning in Pennsylvania today because he says if we don’t win, we’re not going to have a country.”

In response to a question about trimming government fat, Trump suggested creating a new position for Musk outside the traditional Cabinet roles. “Let me have you ask another person that,” Trump said, alluding to the entrepreneur’s potential role. “I’m going to have Elon Musk — he is dying to do this. You know, he’s a great business guy.”
