Trudeau BEGGED Trump: “Don’t Sign It!”

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

Taking decisive action, Trump announced a bold move—imposing hefty tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico. He also hit China with new trade penalties. The tariffs include a 25% duty on goods from Canada and Mexico, a 10% levy on Canadian energy, and an additional 10% tariff on Chinese imports.

Trump made the announcement on his platform, Truth Social, stating:

“Today, I have implemented a 25% Tariff on Imports from Mexico and Canada (10% on Canadian Energy), and a 10% additional Tariff on China.”

Trump justified the move by citing his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), arguing that America’s security was at stake.

“This was done through the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) because of the major threat of illegal aliens and deadly drugs killing our Citizens, including fentanyl. We need to protect Americans, and it is my duty as President to ensure the safety of all. I made a promise on my Campaign to stop the flood of illegal aliens and drugs from pouring across our Borders, and Americans overwhelmingly voted in favor of it,” Trump declared.

Realizing the devastating impact these tariffs could have on Canada’s economy, Trudeau made a last-ditch effort to change Trump’s mind. His plea, however, fell on deaf ears.

“It doesn’t have to be this way,” Trudeau implored, hoping to soften Trump’s stance. But his words carried little weight, as his government had failed to take any real steps to curb fentanyl trafficking.

Still, Trudeau tried to play nice, saying:

“Yes, we’ve had our differences in the past, but we’ve always found a way to get past them. As I’ve said before, if President Trump wants to usher in a new golden age for the United States, the better path is to partner with Canada, not to punish us.”

Trump, however, was unimpressed, seeing Trudeau’s words as too little, too late.

In response, Trudeau announced retaliatory tariffs on $125 billion worth of American goods. The products targeted included American beer, wine, bourbon, fruits, clothing, and household appliances, according to CNBC.

Meanwhile, Mexico also pushed back. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced countermeasures, posting on X:

“I’ve instructed my economy minister to implement the plan B we’ve been working on, which includes tariff and non-tariff measures in defense of Mexico’s interests.”

Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard followed up with a defiant message:

“Plan B is underway. We will win!”

Despite their tough talk, Canada and Mexico face a harsh reality.

Canada and Mexico can posture all they want, but they are playing a losing hand. The U.S. is by far their largest trading partner, and they rely on American consumers to keep their economies afloat.

  • 77% of Canada’s exports go directly to the U.S.
  • 84% of Mexico’s exports are dependent on American buyers.

With numbers like these, it’s clear that neither Canada nor Mexico is in a position to win a trade war against the United States. If Trudeau and Sheinbaum refuse to meet Trump’s demands, they will face severe economic consequences.

As Trudeau exits the political stage in disgrace, his failure to protect Canadian trade interests stands as a fitting end to his troubled leadership. Meanwhile, Trump continues to show that he is unafraid to take bold action to protect American sovereignty—whether Canada and Mexico like it or not.

  1. Americans (mainly the Conservative Voters): Hello. about the fentanyl from “china”. imposing tariffs on both Mexico and Canada because of cartels bringing the fentanyl into our Country is one thing, BUT.
I suggest a 50% tariff on “china” until we really see positive evidence: a huge reduction in the fentanyl brought into our Country and a drastic reduction in deaths by fentanyl.
The risk of the 50% tariff, “china” could decide to really retaliate by stopping the flow of prescription medicines to our USA, a commanding 90+% of our prescription drugs come from “china”…they have us by the “bees”.
THAT [the 50%] should get “chinas” attention. Only AFTER seeing positive results then the tariff on “china” could be reduced back down to the measly 10%.
