While US showrooms make do with a smaller and tamer Land Cruiser, the rest of the world is getting a 457 horsepower bruiser that rewrites the brand’s history books. It is the strongest Land Cruiser ever built and it will never touch American soil.

This is not an accident. It is a decision.

Toyota Unleashes Its Strongest Land Cruiser Ever

Toyota has revealed the Land Cruiser 300 Performance Hybrid, a full size SUV that delivers 457 horsepower and 583 pound feet of torque. That makes it the most powerful Land Cruiser in the vehicle’s seven decade history.

The setup combines a twin turbo 3.5 liter V6 with an electric motor, the same basic system already used in Toyota’s full size trucks overseas. According to Toyota, torque output is up roughly 20 percent compared to the non hybrid Land Cruiser 300, while throttle response jumps by about 40 percent.
