Minnesota Governor Tim Walz appeared to believe that stepping away from his reelection campaign would quiet the growing scrutiny surrounding his administration.
Instead, the pressure has intensified.
As multiple federal and state investigations close in on what prosecutors describe as one of the largest public assistance fraud schemes in U.S. history, Walz has taken a stunning and dangerous turn. Rather than restoring order, the governor is now being accused of fueling unrest in the streets of Minneapolis at the exact moment law enforcement is moving in.
Video footage from Wednesday night shows Walz openly encouraging protesters to continue demonstrations in Minneapolis. His remarks came only hours after a third shooting involving an ICE agent in just one week, raising immediate alarm among federal officials.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the most recent incident involved an illegal alien from Venezuela who violently resisted arrest. The suspect, aided by two accomplices armed with a snow shovel and a broom handle, ambushed an ICE officer during the operation.
“Fearing for his life and safety as he was being ambushed by three individuals, the officer fired defensive shots to defend his life,” DHS stated.
