A historic event was announced at the beginning of the week when Chinese President Xi left for Moscow. When they discussed how to design a peace agreement between their two superpowers, all eyes were focused on the pivotal meeting between him and Vladimir Putin.
The “strategic cooperation” between two strong leaders on Tuesday, hailing China’s ascension as Russia’s top economic partner, was a watershed moment in world diplomacy. The ink on the agreements denoted a “unrestricted” relationship, a daring new beginning for these partner countries, and the air was electrified with expectancy.

The current scenario reflects poorly on the performance of both the Biden administration and the United States.
“I am convinced that our multi-faceted cooperation will continue to develop for the good of the peoples of our countries,” Putin said.
“The early harvest of (our) cooperation can be seen, and further cooperation is being advanced,” Xi told Putin.
Putin orchestrates this symbiosis to deftly offset the perceived Western encroachment on Russia’s interests, which puts Biden and the US in a difficult situation because of the burgeoning partnership between Russia and China.
“Putin said Russia, China and Mongolia had completed all agreements on a planned Power of Siberia 2 pipeline, which will ship Russian gas to China, and that Moscow was ready to increase oil exports to Beijing. Putin also said Moscow was ready to help Chinese businesses replace Western firms that have left Russia over the Ukraine conflict,” according to Reuters.
Gas shipments to Europe fell precipitously in the wake of the Ukrainian conflict in February 2022, reaching a meager total of 62 bcm that year. In a recent conversation, Putin stated that Russia intended to increase gas shipments to China, with the goal of making a significant supply of at least 98 bcm by 2030.
Russia’s geopolitical pivot towards China as a vital economic ally, lessening its dependency on Europe, is shown by the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline, which is expected to increase gas supplies to China. The US and Europe’s economic sanctions against Russia may become less persuasive and effective as a result of this development. Additionally, the US’s influence in the area may be seriously threatened by the rising cooperation between China and Russia on political and security issues.
We’d better start ‘waking’ up our woke military and rebuilding the advantages we’ve lost during Biden’s so-called leadership. I have a feeling they’ll soon be needed.
