In a fiery press conference that sent shockwaves through Washington, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) called for the immediate impeachment of U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, an Obama-appointed judge accused of authorizing a secret government order to seize private communications from Republican lawmakers.
According to Cruz, the Biden Justice Department—under former special counsel Jack Smith—quietly issued subpoenas targeting his personal cellphone data along with that of eight other Republican senators. The Texas senator called the move “a blatant and unconstitutional fishing expedition” tied to the so-called “Arctic Frost” investigation, a probe allegedly connected to Trump’s efforts to challenge the disputed 2020 election.
During the press conference, Cruz didn’t mince words as he blasted the Biden administration for weaponizing the Department of Justice to go after political rivals.
