A political storm is building in Washington as newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel reportedly moves to reopen and potentially expose long-classified documents tied to Congressman Eric Swalwell and his past connections to a suspected Chinese intelligence operative.
The controversy traces back years, when then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi allowed Swalwell to remain on the powerful House Intelligence Committee despite warnings from federal authorities. Now, with Patel at the helm of the FBI, those same files may finally see the light of day.
A Decade-Old Investigation Resurfaces
According to multiple reports, FBI agents based in San Francisco have been tasked with reviewing and preparing sensitive materials connected to the bureau’s investigation into Christine Fang, also known as “Fang Fang.” The case dates back more than a decade and centers on Fang’s efforts to build relationships with rising political figures in California.
Fang was allegedly linked to China’s Ministry of State Security and became closely associated with Swalwell during his early political career. Her involvement reportedly included fundraising efforts for his 2014 congressional campaign, placing an intern inside his office, and attending events alongside the congressman over several years.
