Schumer MELTS DOWN on Senate Floor!

Washington, D.C. — After 40 days of political gridlock and finger-pointing, the Senate finally took a decisive step toward reopening the U.S. government — and it came at a steep price for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Late Sunday night, eight Democrats broke ranks and joined Republicans in a pivotal vote that effectively ended Schumer’s shutdown strategy. The move set off a dramatic scene on the Senate floor, as a visibly frustrated Schumer lashed out before ultimately conceding defeat.

Democrats Break the Filibuster

At approximately 10:45 p.m., Senator John Cornyn arrived to cast the final vote in a tense session that had dragged on for hours. The Senate voted 60–40 to invoke cloture on the House-passed continuing resolution, finally breaking the filibuster that had paralyzed Washington for more than a month.

Republicans quickly celebrated the procedural win. The GOP plans to amend the bill and attach three full-year appropriations measures before sending it back to the House, which is expected to vote on the package Wednesday.
