A confidential campaign paper that details DeSantis’s strategy was just obtained by NBC News. The goals for fundraising are discussed, and it is noted that efforts to raise money significantly outstrip what Trump brought after his declaration. This far out from the election, the letter notes that “the ballot is very fluid” and that many voters won’t make up their minds about who to support until the debates take place or they get the opportunity to meet the prospective candidates.
The DeSantis campaign proposes a number of legislative responses to President Joe Biden’s alleged shortcomings, starting with the border, the economy, foreign policy, and China. Then it intends to bring up the issues of “woke military, the deep state, school choice and beyond.” It also mentions that “won’t avoid Trump’s failings when asked.”
Although DeSantis received a lot of support right first, it appears that some of his contributors or potential donors have altered their minds. Megadonor Ken Griffin, for instance, said in 2022 that he was supporting DeSantis over Trump, but recently the two have disagreed on a number of topics. A spokeswoman recently told CNBC that Griffin “continues to assess the field.”

Recent data from FiveThirtyEight reveals that Trump’s lead against DeSantis has grown dramatically. As of July 14, the previous president had a startling advantage of 28.7 percentage points over the current Florida leader, who had 21% support, with an amazing 49.7% of the vote.
