Kennedy, who has recently suspended his campaign in crucial swing states, is urging his supporters to back former President Donald Trump. Despite his efforts, several swing states are resisting his request, leaving him with little choice but to pursue legal action.
Kennedy filed a lawsuit in Wake County Superior Court on Friday, challenging the Board’s refusal to grant his request to remove his name from the ballot as a third-party presidential candidate. The suit, which was first reported by The News & Observer and WRAL, argues that the Board’s decision violates both state election law and Kennedy’s right to free speech.
