A catastrophic mid-air collision occurred near Washington D.C.’s Reagan National Airport (DCA) when a civilian passenger aircraft carrying roughly 60 people was struck by a military helicopter. The collision, which unfolded in the skies over the Potomac River, led to a fiery explosion and the grounding of all flights at the airport.
Conservative journalist Charles A. Downs, who lives near the airport, reported hearing a massive “boom” just minutes before flights were halted. The crash prompted immediate emergency response efforts, as first responders rushed to the scene.
