The International Olympic Committee (IOC) appears ready to draw a firm line in the sand — and this time, it’s aimed squarely at protecting women’s sports.
According to The Times of London, the IOC is finalizing a new policy that would ban transgender athletes and those with “differences of sex development” (DSD) from competing against biological women in future Olympic events. The move comes after years of controversy and mounting public outrage over fairness in female competition.
A Shift Away From “Federation Freedom”
Up until now, the IOC allowed each sport’s governing body to make its own rules on transgender participation. That hands-off approach led to wildly inconsistent standards — and widespread accusations that the Olympic leadership was dodging responsibility.
But that’s about to change. After what insiders describe as “intense internal debate,” the IOC is reportedly preparing to reclaim authority and issue a blanket rule designed to “protect the integrity” of women’s divisions.
