Officer Investigated for Calling a Man… a Man?

A Georgia police officer is under fire after doing what many Americans believe officers should do — protect women and children from potential danger.

Sasha Swinson speaks outside the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Branch of the DeKalb County Public Library after claiming a police officer confronted and “misgendered” her for using the women’s restroom.

The confrontation unfolded at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library in Tucker, Georgia, when a DeKalb County officer questioned a biological man who identifies as a woman for using the women’s restroom.

According to reports, the officer approached the individual, identified as Sasha Swinson, after observing the restroom use. The officer reportedly told Swinson to use either the men’s or family restroom next time, citing public safety concerns.

Swinson later accused the officer of “misgendering” her, claiming the interaction was “terrifying.” But the officer’s actions appear rooted not in hate, but in basic concern for privacy and security — values that many parents and community members have long demanded local leaders defend.

A Clash Over Basic Decency

The altercation took place on October 20 around 6:25 p.m., when Swinson said she stopped by the library after dinner to read. The library also serves as an early voting site, which may explain the officer’s presence.
