Adding to the intrigue, Barack Obama attended Carter’s funeral alone, citing Michelle’s “scheduling conflict.” However, Page Six reported that Michelle was allegedly furious when she saw Barack engaging in a seemingly friendly conversation with Donald Trump during the event. Their public absence together has not gone unnoticed either, as they haven’t been seen side by side since December, aside from a single carefully released photo in January.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama has been spotted dining solo at an upscale Washington, D.C., restaurant, further igniting speculation about the couple’s relationship.
But the trouble doesn’t stop at personal matters. The Obamas’ donor base is shrinking, with some of their biggest financial supporters now openly criticizing Barack’s demeanor. According to The Daily Beast, major donors describe him as “arrogant” and unwilling to reciprocate support when they needed it.
“We’re told there’s a certain schadenfreude in some circles as the Obamas weren’t seen to be playing the game as they climbed the slippery pole to the White House,” The Daily Beast reported.
One donor, who opted to cut back their contributions significantly, didn’t hold back: “He’s arrogant.” Another donor added, “He didn’t help others when they were trying to fundraise, and so they’re not going to look out for the Obamas now. There’s no quid pro quo because it’s a one-way street.”
Just Released: Trump White House Collector’s Bobblehead!
The shift is a far cry from 2008, when Barack Obama ascended to the presidency on a wave of small grassroots donations. Now, more than three years after breaking ground on his highly anticipated presidential center, his once-reliable fundraising network appears to be drying up. While the media fixates on the Obamas’ relationship status, insiders are far more concerned with the financial reality surrounding the stalled project.
Rather than a shining tribute to a former president, the Obama Presidential Center is at risk of becoming an embarrassing boondoggle. The costly delays and lack of donor enthusiasm suggest that the former president’s financial well of goodwill may be running dry. As the center struggles to move forward, the real question remains—will the Obamas be able to regain the trust of their former allies, or is their golden era of influence finally fading?
