New York City’s newest far-left mayor, Zohran Mamdani, didn’t even wait 24 hours after his election victory before revealing the blatant hypocrisy at the center of his so-called “people’s movement.”
After months of preaching about “economic justice” and “free everything,” the self-described Democratic Socialist wasted no time posting a video on X—formerly Twitter—asking for one thing he’s supposedly against: money.
Just a day after being elected, Mamdani turned to his followers with a desperate plea for donations to fund his “transition” into office. The man who spent his campaign promising to make New York “affordable” through government handouts now admits he can’t afford to organize his own staff without dipping into his supporters’ pockets.
For someone who’s spent years bashing capitalism and the “wealthy elite,” Mamdani’s sudden need for cash from ordinary New Yorkers is hard to miss. The irony couldn’t be clearer: the socialist mayor-elect who wants to redistribute your income now wants your money to build his power base.
