Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets, released a statement confirming the decision, saying that the team did not meet its goals under Saleh’s tenure. “This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations,” Johnson’s statement read. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has been appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
