One Davison Township police officer described the heartbreaking scene when he first arrived, saying the combination of gunfire, injured victims, and the fire was “absolute chaos.”
Aerial footage shows the church completely engulfed, its roof collapsing as firefighters poured water from above. By late morning, the fire had destroyed much of the building, leaving the congregation without its place of worship.
Sources on the ground told FOX 2 News that the shooter appeared to have intentionally set the fire after opening fire on churchgoers, though investigators have not yet confirmed the motive.
As of now, the identities and conditions of the victims have not been released. Families gathered at the reunification centers, anxiously waiting for updates while police pieced together the timeline of the attack.
The Grand Blanc community is stunned by the violence. Neighbors told local reporters that the church is a tight-knit congregation known for charity work and youth programs, making the attack even harder to comprehend.
Officials have promised a full investigation and will provide updates as soon as they are available. For now, law enforcement asks residents to stay clear of the area and pray for the victims and their families.
