A peaceful Sunday service turned into a nightmare in Grand Blanc, Michigan, after a gunman stormed into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on McCandlish Road. Witnesses say shots rang out just as the congregation gathered for morning worship, sending families scrambling for cover.
Authorities confirm there are multiple victims from the shooting, though an exact number has not been finalized. Early reports suggest as many as 6 to 8 people may have been shot.
As if the gunfire weren’t horrific enough, the building soon erupted into flames. Thick smoke billowed into the air as first responders rushed in. A massive four-alarm emergency response was quickly launched to battle both the gunman’s rampage and the growing blaze.
Police have revealed that the shooter is “down,” though they have not yet confirmed whether the suspect was killed or taken into custody. Officials say there is “NO threat to the public at this time,” providing some reassurance to the shaken community.
