Mom Fights Back After School Demands $116K!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

That video alone should have been enough to send alarms through every parent in the district. Instead, the school placed Fillo on paid leave and quietly removed him as co-president of the teachers union — a move that looked more like damage control than accountability.

Students Say Classrooms Were Already Political Battlegrounds

After the TikTok surfaced, a student from Fillo’s class came forward saying the teacher had told the class that Republicans today would support slavery. She also said he docked her assignment for having conservative viewpoints, even as a left-leaning student’s work went untouched.

If true, this wasn’t a one-time meltdown — it was a pattern.

One Mother Wanted Answers — The District Put Up a $116,000 Wall

Parent and activist Nicole Solas decided to dig deeper. She filed a public records request asking for Fillo’s curriculum materials going back 15 years. She also reposted the TikTok on X so other parents could see what was going on.

Instead of cooperating, the district tried to block access with an eye-watering bill: $116,000.

Yes — one hundred sixteen thousand dollars just to see what a public employee was teaching children in a taxpayer-funded classroom.

The District’s Excuse Makes Absolutely No Sense

On October 24, the district defended the astronomical quote by claiming it would require over 70 hours to “retrieve, review, redact and compile” Fillo’s emails dating back to 2016.
They also insisted that reviewing the 157 classes he taught would take more than 7,000 hours because his materials were stored across three different systems.

Then came the punchline: they claimed there are 270 separate “resources” per class — and the district wanted to charge $15 an hour to sift through them.

In a laughable “compromise,” they told Solas that if she trimmed her request down to only five years, they could knock the price down to a mere $5,500.

The Teacher’s Timeline Is Exactly Why Parents Want the Full Picture

The district’s attempt to shrink the timeline conveniently excludes the same years that saw Trump rise, political tensions explode, and activist-teachers intensify their rhetoric.

Solas has every reason to ask for the full picture — and every reason to suspect the district is trying to hide it.

Legal Counsel Calls Out the Scam

Solas’ attorney, James McGlone, torched the district’s numbers as “prohibitive and facially unreasonable.” He said the estimates were “inflated by a series of unrealistic assumptions” and based on the fantasy that Fillo somehow created “entirely unique class materials for each separate, simultaneous section of the same course.”

In other words — the district is padding the bill to protect one of their own.

Parents See the Pattern — And They’re Done With the Games

Stories like this are why more parents are turning to homeschooling. Every time a teacher like Fillo gets exposed, school administrators close ranks, parents get shut out, and transparency gets buried under paperwork and fees.

Commentator Libs of TikTok has documented countless similar incidents — proof that Fillo isn’t an outlier. He’s part of a trend.

If schools truly cared about students, they’d stand with parents demanding answers, not bureaucrats scrambling to hide a politically obsessed teacher under a mountain of red tape.
