Miller claims that his presence at the rally was completely legitimate, saying he was invited by the Republican Party of Nevada. His claim is further supported by the fact that his Instagram account shows he had attended previous pro-Trump events, including the RNC Convention with figures like RFK Jr. and James O’Keefe.
Adding fuel to the fire, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco initially told media outlets that Miller’s arrest may have thwarted an assassination attempt on Trump. Bianco even texted the Epoch Times, saying, “We arrested a man trying to get in the perimeter with two firearms who ended up saying he was going to kill the president.” However, Bianco later walked back his statement, saying he couldn’t recall making such claims. He also suggested that while there wasn’t concrete proof, the deputies’ actions may have prevented an attempt on Trump’s life.
In an interview with America Happens, Miller didn’t hold back in addressing the accusations. He argued that his arrest was politically motivated and part of an effort to smear his name and other Trump supporters. “Probably the reason that God put me in that situation in order to be able to expose really what’s going on,” Miller declared. He pointed out that he had always informed law enforcement about his legally owned firearms during previous rallies in Nevada, where stricter gun laws like those in California were not an issue.
Miller also took aim at the claim that his press passes were fake, calling it “complete nonsense.” He maintains that the passes were issued directly by Republican Party officials. “I was an actual invitee to that event,” he stated. According to Miller, he informed the deputies at the checkpoint about the firearms in his vehicle, believing it was the right thing to do. “I drove up to the officer and gave him the courtesy of letting him know about the firearms in my truck,” he explained.
What followed, according to Miller, was an unnecessary ordeal. He described being handcuffed and placed in the back of a scorching police car, where he was denied access to water and vital supplements for his health. “I started feeling faint,” he said, adding that the intense heat, coupled with a lack of hydration and his blood sugar issues, led to severe health complications. It wasn’t until he kicked the door of the police car to get the deputies’ attention that they eventually provided him with some relief.

Miller believes the entire incident, including the ransacking of his car by bomb-sniffing dogs, was part of an effort to find any reason to justify the arrest. Authorities, he claimed, were fishing for a reason to label him a threat, even though they found nothing illegal or suspicious in his vehicle. “They were looking for anything to justify this treatment,” he said.
Roger Stone, a long-time ally of President Trump, came to Miller’s defense, posting on X: “Vem Miller the man falsely accused of planning to assassinate President Trump made no threats against the president. The firearms in his possession were legally owned and were locked in the trunk of his car. His license plates were neither fake nor expired. He had no fake passports and his pass to the Trump rally was legitimate. He faces no federal charges and was not even questioned by the Secret Service or the FBI. His license plates were valid, and he is not a member of the sovereign citizens movement. He’s a strong Trump supporter.”
