Liam Neeson Goes Off On ‘The View’

Acclaimed actor Liam Neeson stopped on ABC’s “The View” on Wednesday to promote his most recent film, “Marlowe.” But instead of engaging in deep conversation about the movie and its issues, Joy Behar, one of his admirers, paid him a different type of attention instead. Sadly for her, Mr. Neeson wasn’t really thrilled with this change in the subject of discussion, which was good for those anxious to learn more about Marlowe.

“I was in the dressing room drinking a cup of tea, turned the TV up, and I thought, ‘oh, this will be great.’ They’re talking about gun violence in America, and I agree that it’s an American problem,” He told Rolling Stone that. “I go onstage and join the ladies during the break, and I was congratulating them on this discussion. And then our segment starts and it’s just all this BS with Joy and Liam Neeson and having a crush, and I’ve know Whoopi for years and Joy a little bit, but I just wasn’t impressed.”

“I’m uncomfortable in those situations, you know?” he said. “One of the ladies [Sunny Hostin] is a prosecutor and we had a little chat afterward and it was a good, intelligent conversation, but then the segment’s all about this – off – thirteen, fourteen-year-old crush. It’s just a bit embarrassing.”

“[Joy] will believe anything that you say because it’s no secret that Joy thinks you’re the hottest and the greatest ever,” Hostin said to the actor. “And in case there was any doubt, we have a few times she’s brought you up over the years, I think we have some video.”

During the program, viewers were treated to a lively video montage that included Joy Behar’s witty take on her obsession on a celebrity. She succeeded in lightening the tone and adding an additional spark of fun, and there were a few grins and laughter that followed.

“I have… I’m sorry, I’m speechless at this point,” Behar said. “How embarrassing when they put them all together like that!”

Last month, while President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address, Republican governors Ron DeSantis of Florida and Sarah Sanders of Arkansas engaged in a contentious argument over the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in schools. The panelists responded to both leaders’ criticisms of what they referred to as “queer theory,” with DeSantis even removing an AP African American History course because it included CRT discussions. This sparked intense passion from all sides who want accurate education that includes minority perspectives without censorship or distortion.

Former member of President Trump’s staff and prominent Republican Alyssa Farah Griffin recently disagreed with Florida Governor DeSantis’ stance on CR but said that safety issues must be taken into account.

“Can I say one thing because this is really important? What Ron DeSantis did with banning black history, that is going way further than what many members of my party have raised concerns with,” the Republican said. “There’s a lot of parents who get concerned with elements of critical race theory—”

Goldberg interrupted the speaker, preventing them from contributing their viewpoint.

“I’m gonna say this one more time,” the actress said. “Elements of critical race theory are not being taught to five-year-olds! It’s not taught to eight-year-olds, it’s not taught to 10-year-olds. It’s not what 10-year-olds learn! Look, if you’re scared of American history … I don’t get it.”

Given Goldberg’s track record of inaccurate predictions, it is not surprising that hers failed to materialize.

An October survey found that the great majority of high school students have been instructed on the elements of Critical Race Theory, demonstrating how K–12 education is ensuring that students are well-informed about this theory. According to the poll, 67% of respondents had experience using CRT in the classroom. “white people have white privilege” and 57% were aware of that “white people have unconscious biases that negatively affect non-white people.”

“But, I think it’s an important distinction because what he’s doing is so absurd, it’s going so far,” the Republican co-host said. “You’re literally talking about erasing history, not bringing in the theories and the theoretical and the more college-level stuff that is in CRT. You’re literally saying we’re not going to learn about slavery, we’re not gonna learn about the Civil War. That’s more dangerous. I want to separate those two, not that both don’t deserve to be discussed, but that’s going dangerously far. I don’t know that Sarah is trying to do just that yet, but it’s a slippery slope.”

Goldberg drew attention to the worrying fact that, in spite of legislative requirements, many governors in Florida are still reluctant to guarantee that white kids are given enough training in black history.

“If you’re so concerned that your children, and particularly I’m talking about white children because that’s the conversation that they seem to be having if you’re so concerned that white children are gonna feel bad because history happened and they happened to be white, how do you think black kids are feeling?” The comedienne and actress stated.
