In a stunning move that caught nearly everyone off guard, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced this week that both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are permanently shutting down their New York offices.
Federal sources confirmed to Fox News Digital that the closures are a direct response to Letitia James’ “corrupt and dangerous business practices.”
“We are shutting down the two New York offices for Fannie and Freddie as a result of Letitia James’ corrupt and dangerous business practices in the state,” one federal source said.
The agencies will continue to employ New York residents remotely and manage mortgages within the state—but they’re packing up and leaving New York altogether rather than continue working under James’ shadow.
