A newly surfaced set of internal training slides is raising serious questions about the long-term political ambitions of the Sunrise Movement. The materials, reportedly from a March 2026 membership meeting and obtained by Defending Education, outline a multi-phase strategy that critics say goes far beyond environmental activism.
According to the documents, the group has mapped out a structured plan stretching over the next several years, culminating in what it calls a complete transformation of the American system. What’s drawing the most attention is not just the timeline, but the language used throughout the presentation.
A Four-Phase Strategy Toward Systemic Change
The roadmap is divided into four distinct stages. The first phase, currently underway, focuses on political mobilization. It emphasizes efforts to block former President Donald Trump, expand noncooperation efforts, and influence the 2026 midterm elections.
Phase two, set for 2028, escalates the approach. The slides call for coordinated labor actions and describe plans for mass demonstrations. One section refers to building “the biggest tentpole of masses against Trump and his billionaires.”
