Arizona’s U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake has pressed Rep. Ruben Gallego to defend his frequent use of the epithet “election denier” against her. Democrat and House Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who dubbed former President Donald Trump “illegitimate” in multiple social media postings, supported the widely debunked theory that Trump cooperated with Russia. Lake drew attention to these remarks.
Gallego regularly referred to Lake and other Republicans running in the 2022 primary, including Blake Masters, Mark Finchem, and Abe Hamadah, as “election deniers.”
“Yawn.. election denier being an election denier,” In a video message, Lake promised to contest the outcomes of the 2022 governor election in Arizona. Gallego wrote in reaction to that remark. “She will never learn.” The terms “MAGA extremists” and “Trump cultists” have also been used by Gallego to describe his political rivals.
In an X post of her own on Wednesday, Lake requested clarification from her far-left rival regarding his views. “@RubenGallego MUST explain why questioning the results of an election disqualifies ME from serving the people of Arizona as their Senator,” Lake wrote. But not HIS colleague @RepJeffries to be third in line for the presidency of the United States of America,” She proceeded, adding Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader in the House.
“Ruben, can you please clarify your position on this for us?”
Republican Senate candidate Jeffries draws attention to his posts on X labeling Trump’s administration “illegitimate” and promoting Russian connection allegations.
“Let’s be clear donald. The only person trying to steal the election is YOU… (and your buddies in the Kremlin),” Long after Special Counsel Robert Mueller had established that there was no proof of conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, Jeffries wrote on June 8, 2020.
“The more we learn about the 2016 election the more ILLEGITIMATE it becomes. America deserves to know whether we have a FAKE president in the Oval Office,” On February 16, 2016, Jeffries published a different article. The New York lawmaker informed Trump during the 2020 election that “history will never accept” him as a “legitimate president.”
While labeling Republicans “extremists” for disputing elections, Democrats with a history of “election denialism” besides Jeffries and Gallego are by no means the only party. Several Democratic members of Congress expressed disapproval with the 2016 election results, including Jamie Raskin, a member of the January 6 Committee.
