Miller did not hold back in his criticism, saying, “If Kamala Harris isn’t smart enough to repeat the messaging points her handlers want her to memorize, that’s their problem. This seems to be a pattern for the Harris campaign. They won’t allow Harris to do interviews, they won’t allow her to do press conferences, and now they want to give her a cheat sheet for the debate. My guess is that they’re looking for a way to get out of any debate with President Trump.”
Trump himself took to social media on Tuesday to express his disdain for Harris’s attempts to alter the debate format. His post, laced with sarcasm, mocked the vice president for what he perceives as her attempts to avoid a fair confrontation.
In his post, Trump wrote, “I have reached an agreement with the Radical Left Democrats for a Debate with Comrade Kamala Harris. It will be Broadcast Live on ABC FAKE NEWS, by far the nastiest and most unfair newscaster in the business, on Tuesday, September 10th, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Rules will be the same as the last CNN Debate, which seemed to work out well for everyone except, perhaps, Crooked Joe Biden. The Debate will be ‘stand up,’ and Candidates cannot bring notes, or ‘cheat sheets.’ We have also been given assurance by ABC that this will be a ‘fair and equitable’ Debate, and that neither side will be given the questions in advance (No Donna Brazile!). Harris would not agree to the FoxNews Debate on September 4th, but that date will be held open in case she changes her mind or, Flip Flops, as she has done on every single one of her long-held and cherished policy beliefs. A possible third Debate, which would go to NBC FAKE NEWS, has not been agreed to by the Radical Left. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

The debate’s format has become a point of contention, with the Harris campaign seeking to adjust certain aspects, including the rules surrounding microphone usage. According to CNN, the debate rules will closely resemble those used by CNN in June, where microphones will be muted while the other candidate is speaking, and no studio audience will be present. However, discussions between the Harris campaign and ABC are reportedly ongoing about whether the microphones will remain unmuted for the duration of the debate.
A spokesperson for the Harris campaign took a jab at Trump, stating, “Both candidates have publicly made clear their willingness to debate with unmuted mics for the duration of the debate to fully allow for substantive exchanges between the candidates – but it appears Donald Trump is letting his handlers overrule him. Sad!”

As the debate date draws near, tensions between the two camps continue to rise, with each side accusing the other of attempting to manipulate the format to their advantage. This debate is shaping up to be more than just a clash of policies but a battle over who can control the narrative in what promises to be a must-watch event for the American public. With both sides trading barbs and making strategic moves, the stage is set for a dramatic showdown that will likely have lasting implications for the 2024 election.
