Former President Donald J. Trump has reignited speculation about potential pardons for January 6 defendants with a statement on his Truth Social platform. In a post criticizing President Joe Biden’s controversial pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, Trump raised questions about the perceived imbalance in the justice system and hinted at clemency for what he called the “J-6 Hostages.”

“Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years? Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!” Trump posted late Sunday, sparking widespread reactions online and fueling conversations about his plans once he returns to the Oval Office in January.
