JUST IN: Pro-Trump Win Rocks Blue State Court!

Thanks to a judge in the state of Washington, former President Donald Trump has achieved yet another major victory in his ongoing fight to be allowed to continue serving on state ballots.

Judge Mary Sue Wilson of Thurston County Superior Court has ruled against a recent attempt to keep the former president off the 2024 presidential ballot. The judge ruled that Trump was right to be listed with other Republican candidates, as the Democratic secretary of state of the state had done.

A plethora of progressive voter organizations and Democratic Party affiliates have filed lawsuits in 35 states in an attempt to keep President Trump off the ballot. As of right now, these challenges have only been successful in two states, according to the New York Times. The highest court in Colorado declared Trump ineligible for inciting insurrection, and the Democratic secretary of state in Maine reached a similar conclusion and refused to put him on the Republican primary ballot. Both of these decisions have since been appealed by President Trump’s campaign.

Like in many other states, some voters in Washington asserted that President Trump’s actions on and around January 6, 2021, were tantamount to insurrection. They contended that he ought to be barred from seeking public office in accordance with Article III of the United States Constitution. The Constitution. But Secretary of State Steve Hobbs concluded that he was not authorized to take the former president off the ballot.

The Washington state GOP attorneys have refuted the lawsuit, claiming that since President Trump has not been found guilty of any crimes, his ineligibility is immaterial. Additionally, the president’s campaign has maintained that Congress should decide whether or not he is guilty of any crimes he may have committed while in office. Hobbs’ decision might be reexamined in light of the Supreme Court’s decision. According to state law, a candidate who has been found guilty of a felony may be removed from office.
