The language would permit certain senators targeted in former special counsel Jack Smith’s “Arctic Frost” probe to sue the federal government if they were placed under surveillance without notification. The payout for each senator could reach an eye opening five hundred thousand dollars.
The beneficiaries of this special carve out include eight Republicans. Lindsey Graham. Bill Hagerty. Josh Hawley. Dan Sullivan. Tommy Tuberville. Ron Johnson. Cynthia Lummis. Marsha Blackburn. Notably, no House members are included and no similar recourse is offered to them.
