As the Biden administration enters its final months, the rhetoric from some of its key figures seems to be growing more extreme. One notable example comes from John Kerry, the administration’s former “climate envoy,” who is using his platform to issue alarming threats and push for sweeping changes as the climate narrative reaches a fever pitch.
At a recent forum hosted by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics, Kerry made a bold statement that caught many off guard. Despite the ticking clock on Biden’s tenure, Kerry was adamant that America is on the brink of declaring a “climate emergency.” The former Secretary of State seemed to suggest that the United States should adopt drastic measures to combat climate change, warning that public officials must force citizens to “behave” in accordance with what he believes is an urgent, planet-threatening crisis.
Get rid of [painful inflammation] today…thank me later?
“I think personally we’re on the brink of needing to declare a climate emergency, which is what we really have,” Kerry told the forum. “And, we need to get people to behave as if this really is a major transitional challenge to the whole planet, everybody.”
