As he put it, “Charlie Kirk gets shot and people are celebrating. Like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You want people to die that you disagree with?”
What disturbed Rogan the most was not just the violence, but the reaction. These were not anonymous extremists hiding behind fake usernames. He described them as professionals with real careers, real families, and real reputations. Yet they posted their celebration openly for anyone to see.
Rogan said, “It is just bizarre, like, normal people that, I think, think they are good people, and they think, they genuinely think, that guy was a bad guy.”
He made it clear that he does not agree with everything Kirk said or did, but that is not the issue. The moment average citizens are comfortable cheering a political killing on public platforms, Rogan believes the country is entering something he called “dark territory.” His warning was blunt. “As soon as you start like regular people celebrating somebody getting murdered in front of their wife and kid on television, in front of the whole world, man, you are in dark territory.”
Violence Escalates As The Left Grows More Aggressive
Rogan’s comments proved prophetic. Only two months after Kirk’s assassination, chaos erupted at UC Berkeley when Antifa and far left agitators attacked a Turning Point USA event. Comedian Rob Schneider and Christian author Frank Turek were scheduled to appear, but militant protesters arrived to shut it down.
Masked individuals launched smoke bombs, sprayed tear gas, and hurled glass bottles at conservative students trying to attend a lawful campus event. Video captured a brutal street fight where one man in dark clothing attacked a TPUSA supporter wearing red. Both men were arrested while protesters screamed “UC Berkeley makes it clear: Fascists are not welcome here.”
Berkeley Police confirmed at least two arrests with university police detaining two more. Hours earlier, four students were arrested for felony vandalism after attempting to hang a large cardboard insect on Sather Gate while covering the area with anti TPUSA posters.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon announced that the Justice Department is now investigating the security failures at UC Berkeley. She posted, “The @CivilRights will investigate what happened here, and I see several issues of serious concern regarding campus and local security and Antifa’s ability to operate with impunity in CA.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi issued an equally strong warning. “Antifa is an existential threat to our nation. The violent riots at UC Berkeley last night are under full investigation by the FBI led Joint Terrorism Task Force.”
Polling Shows America Is Reaching A Breaking Point
Rogan’s warning did not come from nowhere. New polling confirms that Americans are growing more comfortable with the idea of political violence.
An NPR PBS News Marist poll from October revealed that 30 percent of Americans now believe violence may be necessary to fix the country. Just six months earlier that number was 19 percent.
Democrats saw the largest spike. Only 12 percent supported political violence in April 2024. By October it jumped to 28 percent. Republicans sit at 31 percent while independents rose from 18 percent to 25 percent.
Another Politico poll found that more than one third of Americans under 45 think violence can be justified. Reuters counted over 300 cases of political violence between January 6 and the 2024 election, the highest surge in modern history. The list includes the murder of Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman, the firebombing of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s residence, the 2022 hammer attack on Paul Pelosi, and the attempted assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Billionaire investor Ray Dalio recently warned that debt, division, and cultural hostility could lead to a “civil war like set of political and economic clashes.” A bipartisan majority now expects another political assassination within five years.
This is not fringe paranoia. It is happening in real time.
The Left Openly Celebrates Violence And The Media Covers For Them
Rogan’s observation about people celebrating Kirk’s death triggered a media backlash. Historian Heather Cox Richardson claimed she never saw anyone on the Left celebrate the killing. Grabien founder Tom Elliot quickly disproved this by compiling dozens of examples of liberals cheering Kirk’s assassination.
At least six foreigners have already had their visas revoked for celebrating the killing. The State Department said, “Aliens who take advantage of America’s hospitality while celebrating the assassination of our citizens will be removed.”
Multiple Americans lost their jobs after their posts surfaced. Top officials in the administration encouraged citizens to report such content. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau even asked the public to send examples directly to him because he was “personally disgusted” by what he saw.
The pattern is obvious. A growing portion of the Left sees violence against conservatives as acceptable. Some even celebrate it.
Rogan’s Warning Sounds Less Like Alarmism And More Like Reality
Rogan previously warned that after Kirk’s assassination, “one of two things is going to happen.” Either Americans reject political violence, “or political violence escalates into something far worse.” The riots at UC Berkeley suggest the country is heading toward the second outcome.
If the authorities allow masked extremists to deploy smoke bombs and tear gas on a college campus without consequences, then Rogan’s “step seven” might not be an exaggeration. It might be an understatement.
America has entered a moment where average citizens celebrate murder, college campuses are war zones, and political divisions are widening by the day. Rogan’s message is clear. The country must decide right now whether to pull back from the edge or continue down a path that will end in disaster.
