Vivek Ramaswamy, a prominent conservative voice and former ally of Donald Trump, is making waves again—this time for his unexpected resignation from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on the very day of Trump’s inauguration. While Ramaswamy insists his departure was fueled by his ambition to run for Governor of Ohio in 2026, speculation swirls that a growing rift with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk played a key role in his exit.

A Sudden Exit from DOGE
After Trump’s victory in 2024, he appointed both Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as co-chairs of DOGE, a new initiative aimed at streamlining the federal government. However, before Trump’s administration could even get fully underway, Ramaswamy shocked supporters by stepping down from his role.
