Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing growing scrutiny online after a bizarre incident at a Minneapolis town hall, where an unknown vinegar-smelling liquid was reportedly sprayed on her from a syringe. The episode came just days after former President Donald Trump suggested she “probably had herself sprayed,” fueling speculation from critics that the attack may not have been entirely spontaneous.
The Minnesota Democrat, 43, was targeted Tuesday by Anthony Kazmierczak, 55, who authorities say approached Omar and discharged the substance onto her upper body. Kazmierczak was promptly charged with third-degree assault, and police confirmed that forensic teams were called to investigate the scene.
But it wasn’t just the assault itself that caught attention. Social media quickly lit up with skepticism about Omar’s reaction, which some argued seemed inconsistent with what one might expect if someone were suddenly attacked with a potentially harmful liquid.
